An easy way to boost your immune system is to add spices and herbs to your meals. Not only do they add extra flavor to your food, but they will help protect you against sickness. Here are three spices you can try adding into your next recipe:


Garlic

When garlic is crushed or chewed a compound is activated in it that can reduce your risk of getting a cold by up to 63%. For those who are often getting sick, try eating a few cloves of garlic a day. You can add it to almost any of your favorite meals or you can try eating it with a piece of toast.


Ginger

Ginger has both anti-inflammatory and antioxidant effects, allowing your body to better combat infections. Consuming a few teaspoons of ginger per day may help ward off illness as well as help you with your digestion. Consume ginger in tea, soups, chicken, rice, stir fries, and salad. If you like sushi, don’t forget to eat the pickled ginger!


Turmeric

Turmeric is one of the healthiest spices you can add to your meals. Not only does it bolster your immunity, it can fight against cancer, depression, and memory loss. Add turmeric to scrambles, vegetables, rice dishes, soups, or in salad dressings.



Ginger and Turmeric Immunity Tea Recipe

Purchase a few ginger and turmeric roots from your grocery store (it should be in the produce section). Fill a pot with 2 cups of water and bring it to a boil. Add ginger and turmeric roots and let simmer for at least 10 minutes. Strain the water into a mug and add lemon and honey.
